Reframing Scenarios
Small breakout groups work though role play scenarios on a variety of self limiting beliefs (5 minutes each)
Each participant choses a scenario or presents their own
Briefly explain why you chose the scenario
Describe the situation in detail? What happens? How do your react? What does it feel like?
The group challenges those thoughts one by one. Are they true? Are they helpful?
The participant reframes the situation using affirmations and a growth mindset.

Jane, a senior software engineer at TechSolutions Inc., walks down the hallway with a printed copy of the recently announced managerial position in her hand. She pauses for a moment before knocking on her manager Mike's office door.
Entering the office, Jane explains her interest in the new role. Mike, preoccupied with his computer, glances up briefly and nods.
As Jane speaks, Mike’s phone rings. He answers it, engaging in a brief conversation while Jane waits. After ending the call, he turns back to her and says, “anyone can apply if they feel they have the required skillset" before returning his attention to his computer screen.
Feeling dismissed, Jane leaves the office without the support or encouragement she had hoped for. She wonders if Mike’s indifferent response indicates that he doesn’t believe she’s qualified for the position. The interaction leaves her uncertain and questioning her suitability for the role.

Mark, a project manager at InnovateTech, is asked to present a project update to the senior leadership team. Feeling a wave of anxiety, he gathers his notes and heads to the conference room, thinking about his previous experiences with public speaking.
As he begins his presentation, Mark's voice trembles slightly. He quickly glances at the faces of the senior leaders, who appear focused and serious. His hands feel clammy, and he starts to rush through the slides, stumbling over his words.
Midway through the presentation, one of the senior leaders interrupts with a question. Mark's mind goes blank for a moment, and he struggles to articulate a clear response. The leader nods and gestures for him to continue, but the interruption has shaken Mark's already fragile confidence.
He finishes the presentation, feeling a mix of relief and disappointment. As he packs up his materials, Mark can’t shake the feeling that he didn’t do well. He leaves the room with his self-doubt reinforced, thinking that his poor performance confirmed his belief that he’s not a good communicator.

Fatima’s manager assigns her to lead a high-visibility project at GlobalTech. As Fatima reviews the project details, her excitement is overshadowed by doubt. She questions her abilities, wondering if she’s truly talented enough to handle such a critical assignment.
In the following days, Fatima’s uncertainty grows. She spends hours analysing the project requirements and planning her approach, but the fear of failure lingers in the back of her mind. She contemplates asking to be reassigned, imagining scenarios where she might not meet the high expectations set for this project.
During a meeting with her manager, Fatima hesitates but ultimately decides not to voice her concerns. Instead, she takes on the project, determined to prove herself despite her self-doubt. As she walks out of the meeting, she feels a mixture of apprehension and resolve, knowing that her performance on this project will significantly impact her career.

During a professional networking event, Jean arrives feeling out of place. As he scans the room filled with industry professionals, he thinks, "I don't have the right connections to be here."
Jean finds a spot in a corner and remains there, sipping his drink and observing others engaging in animated conversations. They look like they all know each other and are having fun. Several opportunities to join groups or introduce himself pass by, but he hesitates each time, feeling increasingly isolated.
As the event progresses, Jean’s self-doubt keeps him anchored to his spot. He checks his phone frequently, pretending to be busy to avoid interaction. Eventually, he leaves the event without having made any new contacts, missing out on the valuable opportunities that the networking event offered.

Amélie arrives at the office for a job interview she's excited about. As she waits in the lobby, she thinks, "I'm not smart enough to get this job." Her hands tremble slightly as she clutches her resume.
When she enters the interview room, her anxiety is evident. She struggles to maintain eye contact and stumbles over her words while answering the interviewer's questions. Her mind races, and she finds it hard to focus, missing key points she had prepared.
The interviewer asks about her previous experiences, and Amélie’s responses are hesitant and lack the confidence she knows she needs to convey. Despite her qualifications, her self-doubt casts a shadow over her performance.
As the interview concludes, Amélie feels a wave of disappointment. She knows she didn’t present herself as well as she could have, her anxiety having taken a toll. Leaving the office, she can't help but think that her performance confirmed her fears, reinforcing her belief that she wasn’t smart enough for the job.

Raj’s decision to remain in his job leaves him feeling unfulfilled. He knows he has the potential to succeed as an entrepreneur, but the persistent worry about financial security holds him back, causing him to forego the opportunity to turn his business ideas into reality.

As the project progresses, the team members sense the uncertainty and begin to take initiative on their own, leading to inconsistencies and further delays. Sarah’s struggle to lead effectively results in missed milestones and growing frustration among the team.
Despite her efforts to manage the project, Sarah’s belief that she is not a leader undermines her ability to guide the team, ultimately causing the project to falter and fall behind schedule.

Jin sets a goal to run a marathon and starts his training with determination. However, as he progresses, he frequently thinks, "I'm not strong enough to complete it."
Despite initial enthusiasm, Jin's self-doubt begins to take its toll. Each training session feels harder, and his progress slows. The thought of the marathon's daunting distance looms large in his mind, sapping his motivation.
Eventually, Jin's training becomes sporadic. He skips sessions, telling himself that he’ll make up for it later. The negative thoughts persist, and his belief in his ability to finish the marathon wanes.
Finally, Jin gives up on his training altogether, feeling defeated. The marathon day comes and goes, and Jin's goal remains unachieved, leaving him with a lingering sense of disappointment and the belief that he wasn’t strong enough to complete it.

Emma wants to learn to play the guitar and often daydreams about strumming her favorite songs. However, she repeatedly thinks, "I'm too old to learn new skills."
Each time she considers signing up for lessons or buying a guitar, she hesitates. The thought of struggling with a new instrument at her age dampens her enthusiasm. Days turn into weeks, and the guitar remains unpurchased.
Emma watches online tutorials and reads about the joy others find in playing the guitar, but she can't shake the feeling that it’s too late for her to start. Her self-doubt keeps her from taking the first step.
As time passes, Emma never begins her guitar journey. The potential joy and fulfillment from learning a new hobby remain unrealized, and she continues to think about what could have been, convinced that she’s too old to learn new skills.

Although Alex attends every class, his reluctance to participate means he doesn’t practice speaking in front of others. He takes notes and listens attentively, but without active engagement, his skills remain stagnant.
As the course progresses, Alex watches his classmates improve, but he feels stuck. By the end of the course, he hasn’t made the progress he hoped for. His belief that he can’t handle rejection prevents him from fully benefiting from the experience, leaving him with unfulfilled goals and lingering self-doubt.
